Lighting are divided into indoor lighting and outdoor lighting. As an outdoor light, it needs many other functions, such as waterproof. Whenever it rains, outdoor lights can still be used normally, which should be IP65 or IP67 waterproofing.

1. Outdoor waterproofing grade and its significance

Outdoor waterproofing grade refers to the waterproof performance index of a certain waterproof material or product. It is a standard set by international, national or regional standards to measure the waterproof performance of materials.

Specifically, the waterproof level is divided into four levels, expressed in the form of IPXX, where X represents a number, respectively indicating the standard of the level.

The first X indicates the dustproof level, and the second X indicates the waterproof level.

2. What Is The Difference Of IP65 To IP68 waterproof Rating?

This is a good question. Although IP68 is a dynamic value, it also has interval standards. Interval values are usually obtained using deep-water testing machines in the range of 1 meter to 50 meters. In recent years, some diving equipment has increased this value to 500 meters. Of course, most products have been used at depths greater than 50 meters. It loses its reference value. As for the required meter of water depth in the middle, it depends on the agreement between the two parties.



3. How to choose outdoor waterproofing grade?


The choice of waterproof grade for outdoor lighting should be based on actual conditions. If short-term, light rain protection is required, a waterproof rating of IPX1-IPX4 is sufficient. But if you need to work in harsh weather environments, such as outdoor street lights, floodlights, landscape lighting, etc., you need to consider water immersion, so you need high waterproof levels IPX7 and IPX8 grade.

IP65 waterproof application :

IP67 waterproof application :

IP67 waterproof lamps are recommended for outdoor water-flooded ground buildings and waterfront buildings with gaps below 1 meter and embedded building facades. Such as the ground flower beds, walking paths, stairs, waterfront wall washing, casting light and railings, line lights and point light sources embedded in the building, etc., can be classified here. Special ground buildings with more than 1 meter gap flooding should negotiate IP68 waterproof grade lamps. When choosing IP67 or IP68 grade lamps, we must pay special attention to the thermal conductivity and heat dissipation performance of lamps, which is often easy to do at the waterproof level, and the thermal conductivity and heat dissipation of lamps are the test of the manufacturing level of manufacturers.
